Over the years, working in different countries, in different environments and with different generations I've encountered variations in the definition of marketing.  This is the one that works best for me.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I have the definition of marketing here for the very small businesses that want to go international. Deb's definition of marketing:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;"Marketing is the art and science of creating desire in the market place for more and more of your product, services or opportunity."  Art is emotional = most people aren't willing to take the time to develop relationships which is key to marketing.  Science is systems = consistent efforts and methods.  Great article.
